Caribbean Anenome
Caribbean Anemone
Caribbean Anemone are actually carnivores which means that they will eat small fish and plankton. They use their tentacles which are also known as nematocysts. Nematocysts sting and paralyze prey and then bring them to the mouth. These tentacles are also used in defense against predators. Once the food is in the mouth, it goes through the muscular gullet then enters the stomach cavity. In the stomach cavity, mucus breaks down the food for energy. Since anemones only have one entrance the waste products go back out the mouth.
